Little Panoche Field Trial

March 6 & 7, 2010
Panoche, CA
AKC Event #2010224003

The Little Panoche trial offers a great venue for individuals wanting to observe a field trial because one of the courses takes place in a ravine (see 2008 and 2010 trial pictures in the gallery). People can sit up on the bluff overlooking the ravine to see what actually happens during a brace. This allows people who would like to see what a field trial is all about compete without having o enter. The trial is offering two derby stakes - one is designated as walking. Regardless of whether or not you enter to win, it is truly an opportunity for you and your dog to come out, compete and have a great time. If you are interested, please enter and if you are willing to help at this trial, please contact Catherine Pokorny at catherine123@astound.net.

Fun Field Day

April 17, 2010
Hastings Island, Rio Vista, CA

We offer a Fun Field Event which introduces current club members, non-club members and future potential Vizsla owners to the sport of hunting with a Vizsla. We give demonstrations using accomplished hunting dogs on pointing, retrieving, and honoring. We offer a "mock hunt test" to show people what its like to be in a hunt test and also gives the dogs exposure to live birds. At this event we also have a few of our club members give demonstrations on Agility and Rally-o to show people how versatile our breed really is.

Deadline for entries is Aril 12, 2010.

Versatility Test: A versatility test will also be hosted at the Fun Field Day. If anyone wants to participate, please contact Poe Asher by March 19th. The test is to run a course about as big as a junior field, hunt, find birds, point, retrieve. An honor is not required and the handler may hold the dog on the flush and shot. Three passes under three different judges are required to earn a versatility certificate.

Walking Field Trial

May 1 & 2, 2010
Hastings Island, Rio Vista, CA

Premium list to come.

The club will be holding it’s annual May Field Trial at Hastings Island on May 1st and 2nd. This year we will open up four stakes to other pointing breeds -- Open Gun Dog, Open Limited Gun Dog, Amateur Limited Gun Dog, and Open Derby. If you are interested in entering any of these stakes, please send in your entries early. We are limited in the number of dogs we can run and it will be first come first serve. The stakes limited to Vizslas only are Amateur Puppy, Amateur Gun Dog, Amateur Derby, and Hunter’s Gun Dog. We are looking for a lot of support in these entries to continue to make it worthwhile to maintain the Vizsla Only status. The premium will be loaded on our website www.vcnc.net at the end of March. The entries will be accepted beginning April 1st. We are not planning on sending premiums via snail mail. If you do not have access to the Internet and want a premium mailed to you, please contact either Vickie Payne or Mike Menasco.

We are also looking for helpers from our club members and associates. There is a tremendous amount of work that goes into running a Field Trial. If you are able to help, even for a few hours, please let us know. There are a variety of tasks that need to be done. Even if you are not experienced, we will find something for you to do.

If you have questions or concerns or want to see how you can help please contact either Mike Menasco at (925) 370-1808 or buzz4me2@softcom.net, or Vickie Payne at (925) 952-9692, or vickiepayne@yahoo.com.

VCNC Specialty

June 12, 2010

The VCNC Specialty and Sweepstakes event will be held in conjunction with the Woofstock Cluster and Contra Costa County Kennel Club, Saturday, June 12th. Our supported entry will be Sunday, June 13th. This has become one of the biggest Vizsla Specialties in the country with over 100 entries in the Specialty, 80 in Sweeps and Veteran Sweeps! We had over 300 Vizsla entries at the 4 day Woofstock Cluster last year!

This year will be no exception with beautiful pewter trophies and more exciting and fun prizes for Saturday and Sunday. Plan on spending the day with our club. Enjoy all the dogs, friends and Vizsla enthusiasts. We will be having a grand lunch affair immediately after the Specialty on Saturday.

Our trophies come strictly from donations and we need your support. If you would like to sponsor a trophy and have your name, dog tribute, or kennel name acknowledged in the Woofstock Catalog, please fill out the form below and send it with payment to our Trophy Chairperson, Theresa Prikazsky.

Rescue Picnic

August 7, 2010
Location to be determined

Our club offers a Rescue Picnic where owners and their Vizslas that came through the rescue program can all get together. Also at this event, individuals that are interested in adopting a Vizsla through rescue can "get to know" many Vizslas in one place as well as speak with our rescue coordinators, knowledgeable breeders in attendance, and current rescue-dog owners.
