About Us

The Vizsla Club of Northern California, Inc. (VCNC) is a breed club recognized by the American Kennel Club. It represents the interests of Vizsla fanciers throughout Northern California. The club is governed by its bylaws.

Our membership is composed of individuals from diverse backgrounds and interests who have joined together to rally around our common interest in the Vizsla Breed. Members want to ensure that future generations of Vizslas adhere to the standards of the breed established and maintained by the American Kennel Club and the Vizsla Club of America.

Our mission is to do everything in our power to protect and advance the health and well being of the Vizsla Breed and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows, field trials, hunting tests, obedience trials, agility trials and such other events as may be sanctioned by the American Kennel Club, under the rules of the American Kennel Club.

VCNC Breeder Directory

VCNC breeders who have signed the Code of Ethics. Find more details about the VCNC Breeder Program here. To understand the Vizsla breed better and what it means to be owned by one, visit the "Getting a Vizsla" and "About Vizslas" section.

Inclusion on the VCA Breeder Directory does not constitute an endorsement by the Vizsla Club of Northern California, its Officers, Directors, Membership, Breeder Referral Chair or Webmaster.  It is the responsibility of the puppy buyer to do research on individual breeders and stud dog owners.  The VCNC assumes no responsibility for the accuracy of the information submitted and provides no endorsements for dogs, individuals or kennels. The VCNC Code of Ethics asks breeders to be responsible, fair and honest in their dealings with prospective buyers.

Activities & Events

VCNC holds educational and social events throughout the year with and without the dogs, and three to four General Membership meetings. The Club also conducts American Kennel Club licensed field trials and hunting tests, a Specialty (conformation) show, and training and agility trials. Occasionally, the Club conducts Versatility testing in obedience and conformation which is sponsored by the Vizsla Club of America.

All meetings and events are open to visitors who would like to see if the Vizsla is the right breed for them. If you decide to have a Vizsla join your family, the VCNC can help you find the one to suit you either from a breeder or our breed rescue program.

Our event page is updated as we receive new information.  Checking back frequently will keep you up to date on all that is happening with our club events.
